There are packaging and labeling laws put into effect to protect children from accidental iron poisoning.  The laws require a child-resistant container/closure system on products that contain 30mg or more of elemental iron.  In addition, there is a warning on the label that states:

"Warning:  Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6.  Keep this product out of reach of children.  In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or Poison Control Center immediately."

In addition to these requirements, manufacturers are required to provide a Certificate of Compliance for all iron-containing products to ensure the customer that the product meets all the regulations set forth.  Please see the attached Certificate of Compliance for NOW Foods iron-containing products.  Closurecert.pdf
